Last night (Saturday 21st February) saw the debut of new Cardiff Funksters Monkjack, and what a debut it was. The crowd got going with a phat set on the decks by Deputy Daf Wiliam, until The Globe, Albany Road, Cardiff was full to the rafters. Once they had been worked into a frenzy, the funksters themselves hit the stage and, led by the Funk Sheriff himself, Mr Jason Rogers, Monkjack ripped it up with some well known funk classics (pass them peas) and some lesser known grooves. With horns, keys, percussion, drums, guitar and, of course, The Sheriff on bass it was a full blown funkfest. By just the second song the crowd had hit the dancefloor and were getting down with their bad selves like it was going out of fashion. The night continued with Cardiff funksters doin' it groovin' it all night long.
Here as Zillorecords we would like to thank everyone for coming along and everyone at The Globe for making it a fab night. The Mothership will next be landing at The Globe for a second Funk Shift on 28th March, so get you glitter out, your groove on and get on down.
