Sunday Evening The Arc of Stars Support Show , New Zillo tracks and Echolounge gigs !

Hi Everyone, its been quite a while coming but Zillorecords are back on the Air!

Next up is The Arc Of Stars, long is the time that people have waited to hear the Album but it's still not finished! (I'm taking longer than guns n roses over it!) But you can come and see me do a live support solo set at Cafe Jazz in Cardiff every Sunday. Tonight I'll be playing along side Ade Wiggins from the Zillo band and supporting the great Colom Reagan, come down and check us out!

OUT NOW On iTUNES - Zillo, World Field - Debut Album Release

Much excitement here today... Zillorecords is proud to announce the debut album from Zillo - World Field - is now on sale at iTunes.

This album is the first solo outing by Zillorecords main man Jason Charles Rogers.  Limiting himself to just bass, keyboards and programmed beats, he uses new musical ideas to explore the concept of 'atmospheres', generating a picture of a metaphysical 'world field' and creating very 'deep' musical territory. 

"The concept of the recording is based on the discovery of a phenomenon known as the "Schumann Resonance".  This is a geometrically perfect set of electromagnetic fields generated by the great mother earth itself that surrounds the globe... a world field." said Rogers for an earlier post on this blog.

World Field is based upon the idea of creating 'alpha' brain wave states and it is hoped that the listener will enjoy this meditative phenomenon for themselves.  Thus by simply listening to the music one should experience a sense of calm and peace. We hope you enjoy the record.

The latest from Zillo Towers - Jason announces the debut release...

It's been busy here at Zillo Records, we have been remixing and mastering our first release and it's gonna be an Interesting one.  For those of you that know me as the voice of The Arc of Stars then my flipside project Zillo is a turn into 'left field' musical territory - forsaking the songwriting/vocal led aspect for Bass playing, radio tuning and pure sonic exploration!

The debut album World Field by Zillo (pictured - click to enlarge image) will be available mid August through iTunes.  The concept of the recording is based on the discovery of a phenonmenon known as the "Schumann Resonance".  This is a geometrically perfect set of electromagnetic fields generated by the great mother earth itself that surrounds the globe... a world field.

Zillo Album Progress

Got the latest from J (that's him over there on the left) on the progress of the Zillo album; he tells me that his session last night with keyboard player, and co-producer on this album, Richard Cuddihy was "excellent". They worked on 2 tracks recorded around Christmas time. He tells me they were "grafting new ideas onto them". He elaborated "layering beats and textures... basslines... you know." I think so...

I had the honour of sitting in on one of these Zillo sessions a couple of weeks ago so I have an idea of how things work - with Zillo at least. I took some photos and recorded some footage with my phone so I'll blog them here for you to see once I've cleared it with the musicians... What struck me most was what a magical and intimate thing watching these musicians create together was - well, it felt that way for me anyway. It really did feel like an honour. Wonderful stuff.

I keep asking Jason if the final track list is finalized yet. He keeps telling me its not. I guess it's a fair assumption that the 4 tracks on MySpace will be on it, but not necessarily... apparently, there are 29 tracks in the running and I guess they want to get it down to 12ish, so I can see why it's taking a while. I'm sure he said something about bonus tracks too - I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Promise I'll let you know as soon as he does. :o)
